Professional Training Programs (Residencies and Fellowship)

We are a diverse program with 17 residents per year from around across the country and around the world.
Montefiore Medical Center is only major academic institution in the Bronx, and it provides residents with the opportunity to care for a diverse community.

Our patients come from around the world and frequently present with complex comorbities and in late stages of disease. This, coupled with our location in an underserved community and Montefiore's cutting edge medicine provide residents with an unparalleled clinical experience. Our diverse faculty with extensive training in all areas and subspecialties of anesthesiology are excellent teachers and role models, and are eager to involve residents in their wide-ranging research projects.

Through our two major clinical locations, the Moses Campus and the Einstein Campus, residents provide patient care in 37 operating rooms spanning all surgical specialties. Additionally, at our Moses Campus residents have the opportunity to train and care for patients in our pain clin ic, the post anesthesia care unit, neuroradiology, MRI, and endoscopy suites. Our residents also participate in the care of patients undergoing complex cardiothoracic and neurosurgical operationsm, as well as organ transplantation. We are also fortunate to have a dedicated children's hospital at our Moses Campus, The Children's Hospital at Montefiore, that affords residents the opportunity to become involved in the care of pediatric patients of all ages. At our Einstein Campus, residents spend time caring for patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery. in the cardiac surgery intensive care unit, preoperative evaluation unit, as part of our regional anesthesia team, and on the Labor and Delivery floors, where we have over 7000 deliveries annually.

Our graduates are prepared to handle any clinical situation and take care of all patients, from the healthy to the critically ill. They go on to complete fellowships, work in major academic institutions and join private practices.
