Speech and Language Conditions We Treat

  • Dysphagia/Swallowing Disorders (across the lifespan)

  • Hearing loss
  • Articulation/speech delays (lisps)
  • Phonological/speech sound disorders
  • Pediatric feeding disorders
  • Language-based learning disabilities
  • Stuttering and cluttering
  • Voice disorders (pre- and post-operative)
  • Right hemisphere brain dysfunction
  • Cognitive dysfunction
  • Orofacial myofunctional disorders (tongue thrusts)
  • Velopharyngeal Insufficiency

Forms of treatment/communication options include:

  • Speech and language therapy
  • Higher-level language/cognitive rehabilitation
  • Swallowing therapy
  • Training in use of augmentative and alternative communication and prosthetic devices (Passy-Muir® valves, speech-generating equipment, electrolarynx, and tracheo-esophageal prostheses or TEPs)
  • Voice therapy
  • Feeding therapy
  • Less Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT LOUD®)
  • Stuttering therapy

Our state-of-the art equipment that may be used for evaluations of swallowing or speech abilities for inpatients and outpatients includes:

  • Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies
  • Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)
  • Aerodynamic Voice Evaluations
  • Videostroboscopy

All of our speech-language pathologists are nationally certified by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), hold a Master’s degree and are licensed by the state of New York.   Some of our therapists have advanced skill sets and hold special certifications (i.e.: Board Certified specialty recognition in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders, certification in LSVT LOUD treatment method).
