Kidney Transplantation

Established in 1967, the Kidney Transplant Program at the Montefiore Einstein Center for Transplantation has been at the forefront of all critical developments in the field. We offer adults and children a chance to be free from dialysis and improve their quality of life. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we offer personalized care and uphold the strictest standards for safety and quality. Learn more about the kidney transplant process.

Pancreatic Transplantation

Our pancreas transplant program was established to help patients who suffer from the complications of diabetes. Successful pancreas transplantation provides a normal glucose and insulin-independent state, reduces the progression of long-term complications of diabetes and prevents recurrent diabetic damage in patients undergoing simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation. Heart Transplantation

Our cardiac surgeons and cardiologists are dedicated to patients with heart failure. Careful review of every patient determines their suitability for a transplant or bridge to a transplant with a mechanical heart called an LVAD (left ventricular assist device). In some cases, patients may be eligible for a permanent or destination LVAD if they do not qualify for a heart transplantation. In addition, some patients may recover heart function. Intense research by our team has helped identify patients who may be successfully bridged to recovery. From diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation, our goal is to consistently and effectively return transplant patients to healthy, happy and productive lives. Lung Transplantation

Our team of nationally-recognized doctors bring extensive lung transplant experience to Montefiore’s Advanced Lung Disease Program. Our surgeons have performed a combined total of more than 1,000 lung transplants throughout their careers and achieved outcome rates higher than the national average.
