Comprehensive Heart Valve Repair Program

Dr. MichlerMontefiore Medical Center is a nationally recognized leader in the diagnosis and treatment of complex valve disease. Here, patients are cared for by a multidisciplinary team composed of highly skilled physicians and surgeons who offer the most advanced interventional and minimally invasive surgical treatments for complex conditions of the heart valves. These treatments include all forms of valve repair and replacement, aortic valve-sparing root replacement and aortic aneurysm repair.

Montefiore's Comprehensive Heart Valve Repair Program participates in the prestigious Cardiothoracic Surgical Trials Network (CTSN). CTSN is a collaboration led by the Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and is committed to advancing the care of patients with cardiovascular disease. This clinical research program is actively enrolling patients with mitral regurgitation and atrial fibrillation.

The Comprehensive Heart Valve Repair Program consistently achieves superior patient outcomes with risk-adjusted operative mortality rates for mitral valve repair that are among the lowest in the nation.

Advantages of the Heart Valve Repair Program include:

  • 1,000 open-heart surgeries each year
  • An advanced imaging program that is among the largest and most respected in New York, offering a full host of imaging studies such as 3-D imaging
