Welcome Message from the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Anesthesiology at Montefiore Medical Center, the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Anesthesiology is an exciting discipline undergoing tremendous growth in both scope of services and development of expertise. Montefiore's innovative training program in anesthesiology integrates the latest scientific discoveries with the highest standards of clinical excellence, as physicians and researchers work together to train the next generation of anesthesiologists. The department provides research opportunities, hands-on experience with the most sophisticated technology and diagnostics, and mentorship by respected physicians from some of the world's most elite institutions.
We are deeply committed to providing superior quality care and elevating the standards of patient safety. Key to our success in these areas is our close collaboration with other disciplines. Anesthesiologists interact on a regular basis with other members of multidisciplinary teams, and handle more and more technologically complicated cases, requiring higher levels of expertise—challenges our anesthesiologists meet every day. We are also advancing the field of anesthesiology as we further develop subspecialties focused on neurological, cardiothoracic, pediatric, obstetric and vascular anesthesia, and we are becoming more involved in another critical specialty—transplantation.
Our goal is to provide our residents with the opportunities to deliver the very best patient care while building a strong foundation for a rewarding career in anesthesiology. Training at Montefiore means honing your clinical and research skills in an enriching environment, transitioning from an intern to a self-assured physician capable of making valuable contributions to the field.
