Neuroanesthesia Rotations

Welcome to Montefiore's Department of Anesthesiology, Neuroanesthesiology Division. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requires each Anesthesiology Resident to complete a formal, two-month rotation in Neuroanesthesiology. Working with a small group of attending physicians, residents administer total intravenous anesthesia, interpret multimodality electrophysiological monitoring data, perform awake fiber optic intubations and care for neurological and neurosurgical emergencies.

With an annual caseload of over 1,600 surgical interventions, residents have the opportunity to create anesthetic plans and management in an informed, evidence-based fashion. The program prepares residents for all the Neuroanesthesia themes they may encounter in clinical settings or on the America Board of Anesthesiology examinations.
