Montefiore Multidisciplinary Pain Program

The Montefiore Multidisciplinary Pain Program offers a comprehensive range of outpatient and inpatient services designed to treat patients that suffer from acute or chronic pain.

We understand that pain is a complex, often debilitating problem that can threaten to upend your physical, mental and financial well-being. We provide state-of-the-art, customized care in a compassionate, supportive environment that has allowed us to help patients return to an enjoyable, fully engaged quality of life.

Our team includes anesthesiologists, physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians and nurse practitioners, all specially trained in Pain Medicine. Because ours is a multidisciplinary approach, we collaborate with other clinicians throughout Montefiore, including surgeons, internists, rheumatologists, neurologists and many more. Our program treats some 1100 patients a month.

Regional Subspecialists

Regional Anesthesiologists provide pre-and postoperative pain consultations and administer medication for many less invasive surgeries.

Regional Anesthesia will numb only the specific area of the procedure. The most common forms of regional anesthesia include spinal, epidural and regional nerve blocks.

Some of the most common techniques include single-shot and continuous thoracic and lumbar epidurals, as well as interscalene, supraclavicular, axillary femoral, sciatic, popliteal and transverse abdominal plane peripheral nerve blocks.

Convenient, Cutting-Edge Care at Our New Hutchinson Campus

Our pain management anesthesiologists have merged with the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to form a special unit to treat patients at the new, state-of-the-art Montefiore Hutchinson Campus.  This 11-floor, 280,000-square-foot facility is a highly streamlined ambulatory care center that maximizes efficient, first-rate delivery of care and convenience for our patients.

Expert Diagnosis and Targeted Treatments

Our team applies a nuanced and targeted approach to each of our patients. This allows us to deliver focused, personalized care that will meet your individual needs, concerns and wishes.

Our experts believe in not just addressing pain but also its underlying cause. Our care begins with a complete examination, as well as any necessary diagnostic tests so that we can quickly and effectively identify the root condition and determine the optimal therapies.

We are skilled at interpreting x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) bone scan imaging, as well as the most advanced forms of diagnostic studies, including ultrasound and EMG and nerve conduction studies.
