Application Requirements
The Department of Psychiatry Residency Training Program participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). The program uses the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
Residents will be selected based on their preparedness, ability, aptitude, academic credentials, communication skills and personal qualities. The following materials are used for evaluation of all resident candidates:
- Original ERAS application and/or updated curriculum vitae
- Three letters of recommendation
- Notarized copy of medical school diploma (plus translation if not in English)
- Original copy of MSPE (plus translation if not in English)
- Original and final medical school transcripts (plus translation if not in English)
- Personal statement
- Interview with program directors
- United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) scores (minimum passing score required)
For resident candidates who have graduated from foreign medical schools, the following additional criteria apply:
- Clinical experience, however, it is not necessary to have U.S. clinical experience
- Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification
- J1 or H1 visa
