Cognitive Risk-Benefit Analysis of Playing Soccer—New Grant

Montefiore Einstein researchers have received a five-year, $3.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to fund a study employing neuroimaging, exercise testing and cognitive testing that assesses the trade-offs between soccer’s aerobic brain benefits and the adverse effects from heading. “This grant will allow us to determine soccer’s trade-offs with respect to brain health so that people can make informed decisions, and we can establish evidence-based guidelines for heading,” explains Montefiore Einstein’s Dr. Michael Lipton. Albert Einstein College of Medicine Researchers Awarded Patent for Proteins Targeting HIV and Other Infectious Diseases

Two Einstein researchers have been awarded a patent for a novel strategy to treat a wide variety of major infectious diseases. By selectively boosting the immune response of the body’s T cells, this strategy may prevent the recurrence of HIV infection in AIDS patients after cessation of antiretroviral treatment. This same technology holds promise for the treatment of other viral infections and can also be used to target cancers such as melanoma and pancreatic cancer. Learn more >

A Ten-Year Dream! Montefiore Wakefield Hospital achieved its first Magnet® designation earlier this year. More than 100 Montefiore Einstein nurses, including 60 from Montefiore Wakefield joined the celebrated ‘Magnet Walk’ at the 2022 ANCC Conference. The celebratory parade was in honor of nurses from Wakefield and other hospitals around the world that earned Magnet® designation this year from the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC). American Cancer Society Awards More Than $2.1 Million to Montefiore Einstein Cancer Center to Support Cancer Research, Enhance Clinical Care & Tackle Inequities

The funding will advance novel treatments, strengthen Montefiore Einstein Cancer Center’s (MECC) robust patient navigation program and help patients get to their doctor’s appointments.
