Bronx, NY and White Plains, NY (May 6, 2014) – Montefiore Health System, the University Hospital for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and White Plains Hospital have formally signed a comprehensive affiliation agreement. The agreement will be finalized upon approval from regulatory authorities.

“We are pleased to have signed the final agreement with White Plains Hospital, which is a recognized leader in Westchester for providing patient-centered, high-quality healthcare,” said Steven M. Safyer, M.D., president and CEO, Montefiore Health System. “Our partnership will bring the best of each of our two institutions to create a model of healthcare for the future.”

Through this innovative partnership, White Plains Hospital will serve as the tertiary hub of Montefiore’s Westchester network and become a member of the Montefiore Health System. Montefiore brings to the partnership its academic, clinical and research expertise, its unique capabilities in providing patients’ well-coordinated care and its dedication to working collaboratively with the practicing physician community. White Plains Hospital has been actively redefining community healthcare and its advancements in technology, medicine and recruitment have allowed for increased localized care.

“Over a year ago, we established a set of criteria for a strategic partner to help us maintain our success in this new world of health care well into the future, and Montefiore clearly met all of that criteria,” said Jon B. Schandler, C.E.O. of White Plains Hospital.  “This partnership will enable us to continue to expand our clinical services while retaining our culture of exceptional, personalized healthcare close to home for the people of our community.”
