NY1 Dr., Theresa Madaline

Three people in the city are awaiting test results to find out if they have Coronavirus.

Patients are being evaluated at Bellevue Hospital, Flushing Hospital Medical Center, and New York-Presbyterian Queens. All three recently visited mainland China.

Samples have to be tested at a lab in Atlanta run by the Centers for Disease Control to confirm whether they have the virus.

City officials discussed the virus concerns in Chinatown yesterday during Lunar New Year, and talked about how businesses in the neighborhood are seeing a downturn.

They're urging New Yorkers to take the same precautions they do against the flu.

The state has started a hotline to answer questions about Coronavirus. The phone number is 888-364-3065.

Doctor Theresa Madaline, an Infectious Disease Specialist affiliated with Montefiore Medical Center, joined Mornings On 1 to talk about how New Yorkers can prevent the spread of Coronavirus and if we should be concerned.
