Services and Treatments
The hematological malignancies team at Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care treats patients with the entire spectrum of blood cancers with some of the most advanced and novel therapies available. Our internationally recognized oncologists and multidisciplinary experts work with patients at the time of diagnosis, at relapse, or when other standard therapies have been exhausted.
In addition, our Center is home to a large research team, dedicated entirely to the care of patients enrolled in clinical trials.
Multidisciplinary Approach and Family-Centered Care
Our fully integrated team of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, bone marrow transplantation physicians and coordinators, hematologists and immunologists, along with an array of trained clinical experts, is devoted to the management of all types of cancers of the blood, bone marrow and lymph system. We listen to our patients, respect their personal needs and desires, and place a premium on enhancing their quality of life.
We are committed to providing family-centered care in a nurturing environment, which is why we offer our patients a full spectrum of support services. From nutritional guidance to complementary and alternative therapies, including yoga and stress management, our focus is on treating the whole patient.
Specialized Treatment Provided by Recognized Medical Experts
Montefiore is one of only four medical centers in the New York metropolitan area that is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) for the full spectrum of stem cell transplant procedures. FACT accreditation—the preeminent designation that a stem cell transplantation program can achieve—is the international gold standard by which they are all measured. This stamp of excellence assures you that our team is of the highest caliber and highly trained to offer the most refined and groundbreaking services available in this rapidly evolving, cutting-edge field. Simply put, you are in the best hands possible.
Recent advances in treatment include haploidentical transplants, for which the donor needs to be only partially matched with the recipient.
Comprehensive Treatment Plan
For each patient, our team develops a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan designed to achieve the best possible outcome. The team closely monitors the progress of that treatment to allow for rapid adjustments as needed. A patient meets with his or her entire team during the initial visit to gain a full understanding of the diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Our Tumor Board meets with each patient's physicians weekly to discuss the patient's condition to ensure delivery of the most effective treatment plan possible.
