Matthew S. Lazarus, MD, PhD, is Attending Radiologist at Montefiore. Since joining the Montefiore team, his clinical focus has been cardiothoracic imaging. This includes diagnostic chest CT (computed tomography scan), lung cancer screening CT, chest radiography, as well as cardiac CT and MRI.
In 2005, Dr. Lazarus received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology at Cornell University. He then attended Stony Brook University and received his Doctor of Philosophy in Neuroscience in 2011 and his Doctor of Medicine in 2013. Dr. Lazarus began his postgraduate training in 2013 with a year-long internship at Winthrop University Hospital. His training continued at Montefiore, where he completed a residency in Radiology in 2018 and a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Radiology in 2019.
Dr. Lazarus’ research focuses on pulmonary embolism diagnosis, and the role that radiology can play in the short- and long-term management of patients with pulmonary emboli. His work has been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals and has been presented nationally.
Dr. Lazarus is a member of numerous professional societies, including the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society and the North American Society for Cardiovascular Imaging.
