Neel P. Shah, MD
- Orthopaedic Surgery
Neel P. Shah, MD, is an Attending Physician, Orthopedic Surgery at Montefiore and an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Since joining the Montefiore team, his clinical focus has been comprehensive nonoperative and operative spine care, in all regions of the spine (cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral regions). He specializes in treating degenerative, infectious, oncologic, and traumatic disorders relating to the spine. He is proficient and experienced in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted spinal surgery.
After receiving his Doctor of Medicine in 2010 at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, Dr. Shah completed a residency in Orthopedic Surgery in Newark at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2015. His postgraduate training continued at the New England Baptist Hospital with a fellowship in Spinal Surgery, which he completed in 2016.
Expanding from his clinical interests, Dr. Shah’s research focuses on the efficacy of minimally invasive spine surgery, perioperative patient optimization, preoperative and postoperative pain management, and effective nonoperative management of spinal disorders. He has participated in research projects at the New England Baptist Hospital and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. His work has been presented at international meetings and published in numerous journals. He has authored multiple book chapters.
In 2017, Dr. Shah received the Doctors’ Choice Award. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the North American Spine Society.
