Norman Y.Otsuka, MD is a board certified, fellowship trained pediatric orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in pediatric neuromuscular disorders, pediatric orthopaedic trauma and cerebral palsy. He is also a Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery and Clinical Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
After earning his medical degree from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, and serving his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Toronto, Dr. Otsuka completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
Prior to joining the orthopaedics team at Montefiore, Dr Otsuka held a number of prestigious positions including Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedic Service at the University of California, San Francisco; Chief of Staff at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Los Angeles; Joseph E. Milgram Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at New York University and until recently, the Director of the Center for Children at the New York University Langone Hospital for Joint Diseases.
Dr. Otsuka serves as Chair, Section on Orthopaedics, American Academy of Pediatrics and as a Board Member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America. He also sits on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Children’s Orthopaedics, Journal of Orthopaedic Surgical Advances, American Journal of Orthopaedics, and the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, Part B and is a Reviewer for the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, Orthopaedics, and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research. Previously, he was a member of the Board of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the United States Bone and Joint Decade/Initiative.
Well regarded for his research in pediatric orthopaedics, Dr. Otsuka has repeatedly been invited to serve as a visiting professor at Stanford University, Yale University, McMaster University, and Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska.
