Yosef Golowa, MD FSIR, is Attending Interventional Radiologist at Montefiore, Director, Pediatric Interventional Radiology at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, and Associate Professor of Radiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Golowa has expertise in performing a wide range of vascular procedures, including uterine fibroid embolization, angiography, angioplasty, tumor embolization, vascular access, and treating venous disease with in pediatric and adult patients. He has extensive experience in minimally invasive treatments of liver disease, including treatment of portal hypertension as well as interventional oncology treatments of liver tumors.
Dr. Golowa graduated Magna Cum Laude from Yeshiva University and went on to NYU School of Medicine to earn his Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Golowa’s postdoctoral training began with an internship at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, followed by a residency in diagnostic radiology at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center an affiliate program of Columbia University Physicians and Surgeons. He then completed a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. After working as an attending at Montefiore, Dr. Golowa underwent formal training with Boston Children’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School, gaining further expertise in interventional radiology procedures related to pediatric disease as well as vascular anomalies.
Dr. Golowa’s research focuses on advancing minimally invasive interventional procedures for liver cancer treatments, pediatric interventions, and venous disease. His work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, and he is a manuscript reviewer for Journal of Interventional Radiology and Acta Radiologica. He has lectured and presented abstracts at multiple national meetings and has served as co-investigator in numerous clinical trials. Dr. Golowa continues to be at the forefront of new minimally invasive therapies and is a well-regarded mentor for trainees learning these new techniques.
Dr. Golowa is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He has been honored with an appointment for Fellowship in the Society of Interventional Radiology in recognition of his leadership roles and devotion to the practice of IR.
