MONTEFIORE CONTINUES TO ADVANCE LGBTQ HEALTHCARE

June is Pride Month, and once again Montefiore’s LGBTQ associates and allies will join the world’s biggest Pride march in New York City on June 30, 2019. Our float in this year’s march will be better than ever. Join us as we march to show our support for equality and human rights.

OUR DEDICATED STAFF TAKES PRIDE IN SERVING THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY WITH COMPASSION AND RESPECT.

Montefiore has been a leader in LGBTQ healthcare for over 30 years. Our hospitals, community health centers and specialty clinics deliver general and specialty care in a safe and welcoming environment. Ongoing cultural competency training helps associates understand LGBTQ terminology, genders and sexual orientation, and stresses respect for each individual at every point of contact. The Human Rights Campaign has recognized our success, awarding Montefiore the top rank of Leader based on our scores in their nationwide Health Care Equality Index. From our groundbreaking Adolescent AIDS Program, serving young people from 13 to 24 years old, to our Oval Center services for adults, to providing care for the largest population of adults living with HIV/AIDS in New York State, our dedicated staff take pride in serving the LGBTQ community with compassion and respect. Montefiore will continue to be a leader in LGBTQ care into the future, with the development of an interdisciplinary pragmatic research initiative for gender and sexual minority health, aimed at improving the health and well-being of the LGBTQ communities we serve.

Please see the events section of Update for information on how to participate in the march on June 30.
