Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart and Vascular Care – Research and Clinical Trials – New York

Innovation does not happen overnight. Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart and Vascular Care is committed to advancing medical care and science through research and clinical trials. Patients are given opportunities to participate in these early-stage studies and treatment efforts in order to determine if a new therapy or surgical procedure is effective.

The clinical trials are preceded by intensive and extensive laboratory research. The potential benefits for patients of participating in these clinical studies are numerous, including the opportunity to receive the latest treatments long before they are available anywhere else.

The Center's research and clinical trials include the following:

Cardiology Clinical Trials

Innovations in cardiology are made by physicians who challenge and improve current practices and standards through clinical trials in order to advance the health of our patients. Cardiologists at Montefiore ask what is possible and launch clinical research trials to find answers. Clinical trials involve examining cutting-edge medical devices, pharmacologic agents, cardiac imaging and new procedural and medicinal trials, among other areas of interest, and include collaborations with Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinical Trials

Cardiothoracic surgeons at Montefiore know that in order to be innovative, they must be willing to push the limits of current medicine through clinical trials. As a result, they are among the few heart and vascular experts nationwide conducting clinical research in such areas as abnormal heart rhythms, valve repair, ventricular assist devices, robotic surgery and stem cells, among other surgical procedures. Research for Heart Valve Repair

Montefiore's Comprehensive Heart Valve Repair Program is advancing the treatment of patients with complex valve disease through groundbreaking clinical and translational research. Our team's commitment to improving the lives of those in need of heart valve repair is demonstrated by its participation in the Cardiothoracic Surgical Trials Network and its collaborations with Einstein. Cardiothoracic Surgery Research

Surgeons at Montefiore are not only asking what is possible in the field of cardiothoracic surgery – they are among the only heart centers in the world launching clinical research to find out. Our researchers are examining aortic valve sparing in patients with Marfan syndrome and investigating the use of mechanical heart devices, as well as conducting extensive research into stem cells and their use in treating heart disease. By devoting study to such possibilities, Montefiore hopes to turn today's hypothetical therapies into the gold standard of tomorrow's care. Learn more about cardiothoracic surgery research.
