Albert Einstein College of Medicine

Montefiore Health System is the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine, serving the 3.1 million people living in the New York City region and the Hudson Valley. Our Albert Einstein College of Medicine is a premier, research-intensive medical school dedicated to leading biomedical investigation and the development of ethical and compassionate physicians and scientists.

In 1955, Einstein was founded as the only medical institution upon which Albert Einstein bestowed the honor of his name, welcoming students of all creeds and races. Since then, Einstein has conferred 8,749 MD and 1,606 PhD degrees.

Einstein strengthened its ability to thrive as a premier academic institution in 2015 by joining Montefiore Medicine. Building upon their decades-old cornerstone of partnership, Einstein and Montefiore are furthering the shared core missions of research excellence, outstanding medical education and improved human health.

At the intersection of Einstein science and Montefiore medicine is our commitment to scientific inquiry. This has resulted in collaboration between nationally recognized investigators and multidisciplinary clinical teams to develop and deliver advanced, innovative care. Our faculty and physicians hold dual appointments—enhancing synergies and collaborations for research, teaching and patient care.
