Patients and Pediatric Cancer Specialists from CHAM to Walk July 9th as Part of Worldwide Fundraising Event

WHAT: Join patients, their families and staff from the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department at The Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) as they "Stomp Out Sarcoma" on Saturday, July 9, and raise funds for sarcoma research.

CHAM's Stomp Out Sarcoma walk is part of a worldwide initiative to raise money for much-needed research into sarcoma. Bank of America is the corporate sponsor of CHAM's event. The CHAM Stomp Out Sarcoma walk kicks off with a 1.5-mile walk in the park, with participants walking to raise awareness. After the walk, lunch will be served and arts and crafts activities will be available for children.

Stomp Out Sarcoma is held in conjunction with the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative, an all-volunteer organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for people dealing with sarcoma, a cancer of the connective tissues. Sarcomas account for 15-20 percent of childhood cancer diagnoses and about 1 percent of adult cancer diagnoses. Many sarcomas resist current treatments, so continued research is crucial.

WHO: Patients and Pediatric Cancer Specialists from The Children's Hospital at Montefiore, friends and families of patients, and the local community.
