CHAM RANKS AMONG NATION’S BEST. AGAIN.

CHAM RANKS AMONG NATION’S BEST. AGAIN.

Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) takes its place for the ninth year in a row on the U.S. News & World Report list of the nation’s best children’s hospitals.

Nationally ranked in Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery and Orthopedics, CHAM continues to lead the way in providing exceptional care. Pediatric Nephrology ranks #17 in the nation, marking our nephrology and renal transplant program as among the best in the country. Orthopedics moved up to #22 this year, reflecting their growing volume of pediatric cases and excellent outcomes. Gastroenterology & GI Surgery continued to climb, landing at #30 in the nation. Neonatology is another of CHAM’s nationally ranked specialties—a result of outstanding teamwork and family-centered care that has improved the health of preterm and at-risk infants in our community.

“I could not be more proud of our clinical teams and support staff,” says Judy Aschner, MD, Physician-in-Chief, CHAM, and Michael I. Cohen, MD University Chair and Professor of Pediatrics, Einstein. “We are home to some of the world’s leading pediatric specialists and child health investigators; provide our patients access to the latest medical technologies and clinical trials; and deliver the highest quality care with compassion and sensitivity to the needs of the children, families and communities we serve.”

NEWS

AN EPIC TRANSITION

During the largest Epic go-live to date on the weekend of June 10, the Epic Command Center surged with activity as several hundred associates, including providers, nurses, pharmacists, inpatient registrars and schedulers, worked on pre-registering and scheduling patients for inpatient services in Epic. In the weeks prior, Montefiore associates also set the stage for a successful transition to Epic at the Moses Campus, including the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM), and the Wakefield Campus. Associates from the Epic Project Team and employees from Epic’s headquarters in Wisconsin have been on standby in the Epic Command Center, ensuring that all technical issues are addressed. As Montefiore continues its use of this innovative electronic health record system, associates are encouraged to take advantage of available resources such as trained Super Users that can provide ongoing support.
