New York, NY - May 17, 2011: The Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) has been ranked in all 10 specialties in the 2011-12 U.S. News & World Report's Best Children's Hospitals rankings. The goal of the Best Children's Hospitals rankings is to call attention to pediatric centers with the expertise to help the sickest children, and CHAM is one of those centers, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The Children's Hospital at Montefiore was ranked #8 in the nation in Nephrology, #18 in Neurology/Neurosurgery, #22 in Orthopaedics, #26 in Diabetes/Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neonatology and Pulmonology, #27 in Cancer, #33 in Cardiology and #50 in Urology.

The newest rankings recognize the nation's top 50 children's hospitals in 10 specialties. CHAM was one of only two institutions in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut to be ranked in all 10 medical specialties measured by U.S. News Media Group. It also achieved the highest ranking in Nephrology among all hospitals in the tri-state area.

"CHAM's top rankings in all ten specialties is a perfect way to mark the tenth year anniversary of our children's hospital," says Steven M. Safyer, MD, President and CEO of Montefiore Medical Center. "The rankings reflect our drive to clinical excellence in children's health. Our physicians, nurses and other members of the inter-disciplinary teams work seamlessly to give children the future they deserve.

"These results are a testimonial to the extraordinary leadership of our Chairman, Dr. Philip Ozuah, and to the strength of the partnership between Einstein and Montefiore," says Allen M. Spiegel, MD, Dean of Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

"We are honored that the rankings reflect the clinical excellence, compassion and patient-centered care that are central to our work at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore," says Philip O. Ozuah, MD, Physician-in-Chief of the CHAM and Professor and University Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. "The latest rankings improve on last year's performance of being ranked in two out of ten specialties, and we congratulate and extend our appreciation to everyone at CHAM whose tireless dedication to outstanding care made this achievement possible."
