Services and Treatments
The Oval Center at Montefiore recognizes the added necessity of early testing and treatment for virtually all sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Our friendly and knowledgeable staff have experience in all aspects of sexual health and will meet your needs with a range of services, treatments, and education including:
STI Screening
You could have an infection even if you don't feel any symptoms, so it's good to get checked regularly. If a partner tells you they have an STD, or you have symptoms like burning, itching, discharge, or a rash, call right away to schedule an appointment.
Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)
PrEP is a prevention tool for people who do not have HIV, but are risk for infection. Your doctor prescribes a pill that contains two HIV medicines to keep the virus from taking hold. PrEP medication must be taken daily and it requires regular visits to a healthcare provider.
The Oval Center has many programs available to make PrEP available to our clients at little or no cost.
Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP)
Condom break? Didn't use a condom? Not sure if you used a condom? PEP is a medicine that you can take after being exposed to HIV that can keep you from becoming infected. PEP must be started within 72 hours of the exposure. Concerned that you have been exposed to HIV? Call The Oval Center Monday through Friday 8:30 to 5:00pm to speak to our team. If it's after hours or the weekend call the 24hour PEP line at 844-373-7692.
