Pediatric Neuro Symposium

A panel of experts will host a multi-disciplinary discussion at Montefiore’s First Pediatric Neurointerventional Symposium. This discussion will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 from 8am – 4pm, in the Cherkasky Auditorium at Montefiore Medical Center Moses Division. This panel will feature James Goodrich, MD, PhD, Darren Orbach, MD, PhD of Boston Children’s Hospital, Pascal Jabbour, MD of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Alejandro Berenstein, MD of Mount Sinai Health, and Karel terBrugge, MD, FRCPC from the University of Toronto.

Contemporary Management of Brain Tumors

A panel of experts including Emad Eskandar, MD, MBA, Vijay Agarwal, MD, Jimmy S. Lee, MD, Adam Levy, MD, Madhur Garg, MD, Katherine McNeill, MD, Patrick Lasala, MD, and Jeffrey Vainshtein, MD will host a multi-disciplinary discussion on the latest and best practices in the management of brain tumors in adult and pediatric patients.  This discussion will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019 at White Plains Hospital.

CNBC’s Sharon Epperson Raises Awareness about Brain Aneurysms on Capitol Hill

An excruciatingly painful headache led CNBC’s Sharon Epperson to the emergency room at Montefiore’s White Plains Hospital where a brain scan revealed that she had a ruptured brain aneurysm. She was transferred to Montefiore’s Moses Campus where a surgery saved her life.

Now Sharon Epperson and Janet McHenry, NP, who was on Ms. Epperson’s care team at Montefiore, are on Capitol Hill raising awareness about brain aneurysms. They joined a delegation of more than 100 survivors, advocates and medical professionals, in conjunction with the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, to educate lawmakers on brain aneurysm disease.

Montefiore Receives Joint Commission Accreditation as a Comprehensive Stroke Center

The Department of Neurological Surgery is excited to be an integral part of the Comprehensive Stroke Center, located on Montefiore's Moses Campus. This certified Center has received certification that is typically awarded only to 160 out of 6,000 hospitals nationwide.

This accreditation specifies that the center provides state-of-the-art care for all neurovascular conditions, including stroke, aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), while following the most current treatment guidelines and achieving outstanding outcomes.

Our newest location offers easy parking and is a convenient destination for patients from Westchester, Orange and Rockland Counties, as well as those traveling from Connecticut.
