For more than four decades, the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women's Health at Montefiore Medical Center has been at the forefront of women's healthcare. We provide a full range of services at more than 20 convenient locations in the Bronx and Westchester County, responding to the physical, reproductive and mental health needs of women at all stages of life.

Our distinguished physicians, led by interim Chair Edith D. Gurewitsch Allen, MD, MD, MBA, are recognized for their pursuit of innovative ways to treat our patients, and are building upon the integration of clinical, research and educational services to provide superior women's healthcare. A Leader in Reproductive Medicine and Infertility
Physicians and experts at the Montefiore Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Health are leaders in the field of infertility. Founded in 1986 as the first full-service in vitro fertilization program in Westchester County, the Institute is recognized for its in-depth expertise, innovative treatment methods and ongoing research. Our compassionate team works with individuals and couples to help them realize their dreams of building their families.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Neonatal ICU
Montefiore's Jack D. Weiler Hospital is home to a Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, as well as sophisticated diagnostics for high-risk conditions. As one of 18 designated Regional Perinatal Centers in New York State, Weiler Hospital is a major referral hub for women with high-risk conditions seeking specialized services unavailable elsewhere in the region.
Leading the Way in Reproductive Genetics
Montefiore provides a comprehensive, state-of-the-art medical genetics program for the prevention, diagnosis and management of genetic problems related to pregnancy. Both clinical and laboratory genetic services are available, and clinical procedures include chorionic villus sampling (CVS), amniocentesis and cordocentesis. Our clinical services are provided at the Institute for Women's Health, Genetics and Human Reproduction, offering genetic counseling for a variety of medical and pregnancy-related conditions.
Advanced Gynecologic Oncology
Montefiore physicians in Gynecologic Oncology specialize in hormone-dependent cancers, including endometrial (uterine), cervical and ovarian. State-of-the-art therapies include outpatient surgical techniques (LEEP, laser or cryotherapy) as well as laparoscopic surgery, precision radiation and chemotherapy.
Family Planning and Birth Control
Our specialists at the Institute for Women's Health, Genetics and Human Reproduction provide women of all ages with caring, advanced gynecological and family planning services. We help in the management of unintended and abnormal pregnancies, early pregnancy loss, complex abortion care and to patients make informed decisions about birth control, including a groundbreaking less invasive treatment for which Montefiore treats more patients than any other location in the nation.
