Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Fellowship

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine offers a two-year ACGME-accredited fellowship granting eligibility for the Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine subspecialty boards upon satisfactory completion of the program. The fellowship is available to a  board-certified/board-eligible candidate trained in physical medicine and rehabilitation. The program is one of 18 accredited pediatric rehabilitation training programs nationwide and currently the only accredited program in the state of New York. One position is available each year. Application is available through the ERAS.

The fellow will have ongoing clinical exposure to outpatient pediatric rehabilitation clinics at Montefiore Medical Center and the Rose F. Kennedy Center/CERC; inpatient pediatric rehabilitation at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases and consults at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore. In addition, they will have scheduled rotations in pediatric neurology, rheumatology, orthopedics, neonatology, and pediatric clinics for medically complex children. There is a strong exposure to child development as CERC also has a fellowship in Developmental Pediatrics. The fellow will also have hands-on opportunities to further develop their spasticity management and pediatric EMG skills.

The fellow will have adequate designated research time and participate in a structured pediatric research design course throughout the two years. Fellows work closely with the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation core program residents with ample teaching and lecturing opportunities. Attendance at national and international conferences is encouraged. In addition, each fellow has one month of elective time per year, as well as opportunities to participate in the Muscular Dystrophy Association Summer Camp and the Special Olympics programs.
