Montefiore Will House Administrative Back Office Functions in Tarrytown Facility Previously Owned by Kraft Foods

Tarrytown, N.Y. (February 1, 2013)Montefiore Medical Center said it has completed the purchase of a 300,000-square foot office facility from Kraft Foods in Tarrytown, N.Y. Montefiore plans to relocate administrative and back office positions from its offices in Yonkers and the Bronx to the office complex over time.

Montefiore will occupy 140,000-square feet and lease the remainder of the space back to Kraft, preserving an additional 200 jobs in the community.

Montefiore’s existing offices in Yonkers will be used to expand its information technology operations. These changes will create more space at the hospital’s four main campuses for clinical use.

“We’re thrilled to be expanding Montefiore’s presence in Westchester and are proud to help support the economic vibrancy of Tarrytown and Northwest Westchester,” said Ed Pfleging, Vice President of Facilities, Montefiore Medical Center. “This site is located close to our hospitals in the Bronx and is convenient for many of our office personnel who live in Westchester.”

Built in the 1950’s, the office complex borders the Westchester Riverwalk on the Hudson and includes three major buildings, over 700 parking spaces, a fitness center and cafeteria. The buildings sit on 90 acres and are accessible to major highways and the Tappan Zee Bridge.

Montefiore plans to occupy the Tarrytown premises beginning in third quarter of this year.
