May is National Melanoma/Skin Cancer Awareness Month

FREE MELANOMA/SKIN CANCER SCREENING MAY 5
AT MONTEFIORE EINSTEIN CENTER FOR CANCER CARE

People of Any Race, Age or Gender Can Be Affected by Melanoma, The Deadliest Form of Skin Cancer -- Early Detection Can Save Your Life

Exposure to harmful UV rays outdoors and excessive tanning bed use are contributing to an alarming increase in melanoma cases among teens and young adults.

Melanoma is the fastest growing cancer in men and the second fastest in women. It is the number one cancer in young people ages 25-29. Melanoma can occur anywhere on the body. If it goes undetected and spreads, the results can be devastating. Dermatological screening is very effective in detecting the disease early, when there is a 95 percent cure rate.

The Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care and Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Dermatology will offer a free melanoma/skin cancer screening for people of all ages. Screening participants will undergo a total skin exam that takes no longer than 10 minutes, but may be lifesaving.
