Attasit Chokechanachaisakul, MD
Surgeon with diverse range of interests, including transplant, joins Montefiore's expanding surgical team.
Dr. Attasit Chokechanachaisakul, who hails from Thailand, has led clinical research studies in a wide range of surgical approaches, including liver transplantation, treatment of liver cancer, and breast conservation surgery. He has written several book chapters specific to the surgical treatment of liver cancer and liver transplantation.
Dr. Chokechanachaisakul comes to Montefiore from the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, where he has recently completed a fellowship in multi-organ transplant and hepatobiliary surgery. He received his medical degree and completed his general medicine residency from Siriraj Hospital at Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand before coming to the United States for a general surgery residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. Dr. Chokechanachaisakul went on to complete a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Westchester Medical Center in New York.
Dr. Chokechanachaisakul has received several awards, including two most recently that recognize his commitment to teaching: in 2014 and 2015, he won the Edelstone-Bendix Fellow as Teaching Award from the Department of Surgery at the Feinberg School of Medicine. Beyond his medical work, Dr. Chokechanachaisakul volunteered on the medical rescue team to provide emergency medical care to tsunami victims in Phuket.
