Biography:

Jimmy K. Lee, MD, is the Director of the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Service at Montefiore and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Lee specializes in cataract surgery, laser refractive surgery, customized corneal transplants, ocular surface surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and anterior segment reconstruction.

After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree at Johns Hopkins University in 1998, Dr. Lee attended Cornell University Medical College, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2003. He completed ophthalmology residency at Montefiore/Albert Einstein and completed a Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Surgery fellowship at Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital. He directed the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Service at Yale Eye Center and was on faculty at the Yale School of Medicine from 2018-2012, prior to returning to his alma mater- Montefiore/Albert Einstein.

Dr. Lee’s research focuses on nanoparticle drug delivery, artificial intelligence in cataract surgery, multiphoton microscopy for collagen imaging in various corneal pathology, computer vision syndrome, ocular surface disease and dry eyes, limbal stem cell deficiency and analysis of the eye bank corneal donor database. He has shared his work in several peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, abstracts, poster presentations and invited presentations. Dr. Lee is also a reviewer for several journals including Ophthalmology, American Journal of Ophthalmology, Cornea, and Eye and Contact Lens.

Dr. Lee is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been recognized by Castle Connolly Regional Top Doctors, New York Magazine Top Doctors and Top Doctors New York Metro Area. He is also an active member in several professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the Refractive Surgery Alliance.
