Biography
E. Stephen Amis, Jr., MD, has served as Professor and Chairman of Radiology at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine since 1991. A Gold Medalist of the American College of Radiology and the Society of Uroradiology and one of the “Top Doctors” in the New York Metro Area, he has played an integral strategic and advisory role in expanding the Department of Radiology to more than 60 board-certified radiologists, 30 residents and 10 fellows. Hailing from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, the Naval Hospital at San Diego for his residencies in Urology and Radiology, and Massachusetts General Hospital for his Uroradiology Fellowship, he previously held the positions of Chief of Uroradiology and Vice Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. Prior to that, he served as Executive Officer and then Commanding Officer of the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. A board member of the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS) and member of the National Council for Radiation Protection and Measurement (NCRP), Dr. Amis has contributed numerous publications to the radiologic literature, and is also a member of the Montefiore Medical Executive committee and Montefiore President’s Advisory Group. He also currently serves as chair of the Radiology Residency Review Committee; the RRC is responsible for accrediting radiology education throughout the United States.
