Sickle Cell Needs More Funding: An 18-Year-Old Patient Advocate Calls on Washington to Improve Children’s Health Care

Dr. Deepa Manwani, director, Hematology, CHAM, and professor, Pediatrics, Einstein, explains the need for advocacy efforts and increased funding for sickle cell disease research and treatment. One of her patients, 18-year-old Sydney McLeod, recently went to Washington, DC to meet lawmakers to advocate for Medicaid funding.
