Katharine G. Kelter, MD, MPH, is an Attending Pediatrician at Montefiore’s Medical Group Comprehensive Family Care Center. In addition to general pediatrics, as a board certified lactation consultant, Dr. Kelter’s clinical focus is providing in-depth consultations for a variety of breastfeeding issues affecting newborn infants and their mothers. Dr. Kelter joined Montefiore in 2007.
Dr. Kelter received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Williams College. She then attended Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where she received her Doctor of Medicine in 2004 and Master of Public Health in 2005. Dr. Kelter completed the Pediatric Residency Training Program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2007.
While Dr. Kelter’s main research focus is on breastfeeding education, she has contributed to other publications on various topics for the National Pharmaceutical Council, the National Institute of Mental Health and the Public Health Service’s Office of Women’s Health.
Dr. Kelter is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, and a member of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Breastfeeding.
