Dr. Chaitowitz obtained his medical degree at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He relocated to the United States in 2001, where he completed his residency in internal medicine at Einstein Medical Center, and fellowship in hematology and oncology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, both in Philadelphia.

In 2013 Dr. Chaitowitz joined the Division of Hematology at Montefiore, where he sees patients with a wide range of blood disorders, both benign and malignant. He has a special interest in platelet disorders, as well as in the management of iron deficiency anemia, which is his area of clinical research.
