Dr. Mahgerefteh’s research interest is in acquired heart disease and preventive cardiology in pediatric populations. He is currently working on the definition of left ventricular hypertrophy and examining how it is affected by obesity and high blood pressure in children.

Biography

Dr. Mahgerefteh has expertise in the use of quantitative echocardiography as a tool to assess the effect of chronic problems such as hypertension, diabetes, and obesity on pediatric cardiovascular disease. His previous experience as an epidemiologist in the health department in Iran and a collaborator with the World Health Organization has informed his design of projects in preventive cardiology. He has a leadership role in the Pediatric Hypertension Program at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, and is dedicated to the care of children with hypertension and other traditional cardiovascular risk factors and comorbidities.
