Karen Morice, MD, is the Program Director for the Sports Medicine Fellowship at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, and Director of the Adult Spasticity Service at Montefiore, as well as Assistant Professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical expertise is in sports medicine, adaptive sports, spasticity management and ultrasound for injection guidance and diagnosis of musculoskeletal conditions.
In 2000, Dr. Morice received her Bachelor of Science in biology at the University of California Los Angeles. She went on to New York Medical College to earn her Doctor of Medicine in 2004. Dr. Morice pursued her postdoctoral training at St. Vincent’s Hospital, first with an internship in preliminary medicine beginning in 2004, followed by a 3-year residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation, taking on the role of chief resident in 2008, her final year.
Dr. Morice’s research centers on AposTherapy and adaptive sports. She has published many original communications in reviewed journals and has presented at several regional, national and international conferences and assemblies. She also has provided media with subject matter expertise on several running articles.
Dr. Morice is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and in Sports Medicine. She is also a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Association of Academic Physiatry and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. She volunteers for an annual medical mission to El Salvador, traveling to small rural towns to treat patients in makeshift clinics. In 2019, Dr. Morice was named Teacher of the Year by the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency program at Montefiore Medical Center.
