Mohammed M. Abbasi, MD, is Transplant Pulmonologist at Montefiore and Assistant Professor at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical focus includes critical care ultrasonography, interventional pulmonology, interstitial lung disease and lung transplantation.
In 2009, Dr. Abbasi completed his Bachelor of Science at the City University of New York and pursued his Doctor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine. In 2013, he completed his doctorate and began his postdoctoral education with a three-year internal medicine residency at Northshore-Long Island Jewish Hospital. He completed a three-year fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in 2019, followed by a fellowship in interventional pulmonology at Barnes Jewish Hospital (Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis) in 2020.
Dr. Abbasi’s research interests include lung transplantation and the use of point-of-care ultrasound in the intensive care unit. He has shared his work through publication in journals, abstracts, poster presentations and book chapters. He has also presented his work internationally.
In 2017, Dr. Abbasi received the Jacobi Medical Center Fellow of the Year award in recognition of his medical teaching. He is board certified and is a member of the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology.
