Surgery of the nose (Rhinoplasty)

Our team routinely performs a variety of reductions or adjustments to the nose. We are equally skilled in procedures for cosmetic purposes or to address medical issues, such as correction of injury or birth defect, or to relieve breathing problems. Notably, Montefiore is world renowned for innovating and perfecting procedures to reshape non-Caucasian noses.

Arm-lift for sagging skin (Brachioplasty)

Montefiore developed a highly advanced technique for the surgical treatment of excess sagging skin under the arms, commonly known as "bat wings."

Surgery of the abdomen (Abdominoplasty)

Popularly called a "tummy tuck," this procedure removes excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and tightens the abdominal wall muscles.

Post-gastric bypass surgery

Montefiore has developed and perfected a number of body-contouring procedures for patients who have experienced significant weight loss with gastric bypass surgery. Our advancements with the full body-lift allow us to cut surgical time in half and minimize scars.

In addition, the Department has made vast improvements in circumferential abdominoplasty, a procedure by which we trim the excess ring of skin encircling the waist after serious weight loss. We also perform thigh-lifts, face-lifts and neck-lifts to remove sagging and excess skin.

Hand reconstructive surgery

Montefiore excels at the intricate surgery involved in reattaching a severed hand. We were the first EMS-designated replant center in the Northeast and the first to perform microsurgery in this area, including delicate peripheral nerve surgery.

Trans or gender-affirming surgery

Montefiore provides surgical services to the Trans community—including the latest advancements in gender confirmation surgery tailored to each patient’s goals—under the leadership of Evan Garfein, MD, Chief, Plastic Surgery, and Beth Drzewiecki, MD, Department of Urology.
