The Epilepsy In-Patient Monitoring Unit is one of six specially designated epilepsy centers in the state of New York. Whether a patient had seizures as a child or began having them as an adult, this monitoring unit will diagnose a patient's specific type of epilepsy and develop an integrated treatment strategy that no other facility can offer. The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Clinical Care and Research Center was also the first of its kind in the world and has served as a model for many other centers that study multiple sclerosis.

The Sleep-Wake Disorders Center is the first center dedicated to sleep-wake disorders to be accredited by the American Sleep Disorders Association. The Center provides outstanding clinical care to patients with disorders that affect the sleep-wake cycle such as sleepwalking, narcolepsy and insomnia. The Aging and Dementia Program, another first of its kind worldwide, is devoted to finding the best possible care for patients with degenerative disorders usually associated with aging, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.
