Support Services for Heart and Vascular Disease

Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart and Vascular Care understands that a diagnosis of heart disease can be a scary thought for patients. That is why, in addition to world-renowned treatment and surgical options, the medical center offers support services to ease the mind, as well as the body.

Cardiac Rehabilitation and Recovery

Montefiore’s Cardiac Rehabilitation and Recovery Team was created with the knowledge that just physically repairing the heart is not enough. Surgical and nonsurgical treatments are only part of the solution. Patients who have suffered a recent heart attack, battled consistent chest pain, experienced heart failure associated with coronary disease or had some type of heart surgery need to undergo major lifestyle changes in order to maintain a healthy heart.

But change is hard and often difficult to achieve. The support services at Montefiore are aimed at getting patients involved in their own recovery process and goes beyond physician intervention and counseling to include education and self-assessments. As a result, patients learn more about the risks associated with unhealthy actions and how important a role heart health plays in their physical activity, their fitness level and even their mental state. Cardiac Wellness Program

The Cardiac Wellness Program at Montefiore offers a unique, nutrition-centered approach to the management of cardiovascular disease. The program aims to prevent and reverse heart disease by making some key diet and lifestyle changes under the care and guidance of experts at the Wellness Program. Patients enrolled in the program are losing weight, lowering their cholesterol and blood pressure, improving their energy levels and even reversing type 2 diabetes. These dramatic improvements are the result of learning to enjoy a whole food/plant-based diet. Learn more about the Cardiac Wellness Program.
