Montefiore Medical Center is informing the community about its inclusive trans wellness centers this Transgender Awareness Week.

Transgender Health Coordinator Octavia Lewis is helping kick off Transgender Awareness Week.

"We are humans, we're just like everyone else and it's important our allies, our families and friends rally with us especially during an uncertain time," Lewis said.

She says people can show support by becoming allies and speaking up for better opportunities and resources for the transgender community.

Doctors at Montefiore are working to educate staff and provide mental health services, HIV resources and medical care to patients.

The facility serves people of all ages and has patients from the Bronx and beyond.

Transgender Awareness Week ends Nov. 19.
