Montefiore Westchester Square has a full service Emergency Department, accommodating walk-ins as well as ambulance service, staffed around the clock by experienced emergency room physicians and nurses. Montefiore will provide an ambulatory surgery center at the site, and over time, will expand ambulatory primary and specialty care. Montefiore Westchester Square will not operate as a hospital, so patients requiring more extensive hospital care will be treated by emergency room physicians until they are stable enough to be transferred.

Effective March 22, 2013, Montefiore acquired the assets of Westchester Square Medical Center (WSMC), which had been operating under bankruptcy protection for almost seven years. Montefiore is now offering a range of healthcare services to the community in the former WSMC facility.
