A Leader in Cancer Research with Radiation Oncology Trials
As the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore believes that using the power of research improves technologies, therapies and, most importantly, patient outcomes. Through our partnership with Albert Einstein Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center, our team of radiation oncologists, faculty and physicists are actively involved in multiple clinical studies. When applicable, we invite our patients to participate in our trials. Currently, research is being conducted in the following areas:
Advanced physics technology such as IGRT, 4-D targeting, PET-CT and biological treatment planning
Advanced brachytherapy for lung, prostate and gynecologic cancers
Advanced imaging technologies in radiation oncology: PET-CT and MR
Spectroscopy treatment planning
Radiation-enhanced tumor vaccines
Radiation and transplantation for hepatocellular carcinoma
Genetics and tissue dynamics of radioprotective agents
Breast cancer and women's oncologic health
Angiogenesis, anti-angiogenesis and radiation
Quality of life and patterns of care
IMRT and IGRT standardization and dose measurement
Target motion management and new technology development
Breast cancer irradiation
Inverse treatment planning
Health disparities
Our goal through research is to improve patient care and deliver more successful treatment outcomes. We are committed to being at the forefront of translating new findings into the most effective and safest therapies available.
