Our sarcoma includes David S. Geller, MD, one of the nation's few orthopaedic oncologists, who together with this multidisciplinary team of medical experts works to provide patients with the most effective, individualized treatment plan possible, while nurturing them throughout their fight with cancer.
Our clinical care environment fosters communication and coordination among the many team members, allowing for customized courses of treatment to be delivered in an efficient and timely manner. Montefiore's multidisciplinary tumor board meets weekly to review the progress of each patient and to adjust the course of treatment as necessary.
Treatments for sarcomas include: surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation and, typically, a combination of these modalities yields the greatest chance of success.
