Montefiore Einstein ranks as one of the nation's best—again—in U.S. News & World Report's rankings for 2022–2023, placing in the top 1% percent of hospitals for complex specialty care in cancer, cardiology & heart surgery, diabetes & endocrinology, geriatrics, neurology & neurosurgery, and obstetrics & gynecology.
Out of more than 6,000 hospitals in the U.S., our diabetes & endocrinology ranks #15 nationally; cancer advanced 9 positions to #35 and obstetrics & gynecology advanced 10 positions to #33; cardiology & heart surgery ranks #33; and geriatrics and neurology & neurosurgery both rank in the top 50 nationally.
Montefiore Einstein complex specialty care in gastroenterology & GI surgery, orthopedics, pulmonology & lung surgery, and urology were recognized as High Performing, placing it among the top providers in the country.

White Plains Hospital (WPH) is the highest ranked hospital in Westchester, and the only hospital in Westchester to receive a “Best Regional Hospital” designation for four consecutive years. WPH achieved High Performing designations for three specialties: Gastroenterology & GI surgery, geriatrics, and neurology & neurosurgery. In addition, WPH received High Performing designations for 10 procedures and conditions: Acute kidney failure, colon cancer surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes, heart attack, heart failure, hip fracture, lung cancer surgery, pneumonia and stroke.
Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital maintained its High Performing designation for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and gained three High Performing designations in heart failure, kidney failure and stroke.
Montefiore Nyack Hospital maintained its High Performing designation for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and gained High Performing designations for kidney failure and stroke.
Montefiore New Rochelle maintained its High Performing designation for kidney failure and gained High Performing designation for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
U.S. News & World Report ranks Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) one of the best in the nation for the 15th year in a row. CHAM also continues its leadership in the New York region, maintaining its #3 ranking overall. CHAM upheld its long-standing top specialty ranking in the region, with Gastroenterology & GI Surgery and Nephrology, each ranking #3, and Cancer taking the #4 spot.

Montefiore Einstein Cancer Center has again been recognized in 2021 with Three-Year Accreditation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons. This honor reflects Montefiore-Einstein's outstanding clinical care, ground-breaking research, unparalleled social and emotional support, and positive outcomes for patients. The structure of our teams across Montefiore Einstein is uniquely distinct. With fourteen disease-based multidisciplinary teams and corresponding tumor boards, every colleague shares a drive to provide comprehensive, patient care.
As part of comprehensive care, our Cancer Center provides a full complement of support services to all patients, from transportation to nutrition to lifelong patient follow-up. Our Bronx Oncology Living Daily (BOLD) program provides psychosocial support, including free counseling, support services, wellness workshops, educational sessions, and peer support to people with any type of cancer diagnosis, their family members.
Montefiore-Einstein is also currently running 130 National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program trials with a goal to reduce health disparities. "We have one of the highest proportions of minorities enrolled in clinical trials," says Katia T. Papalezova, MD, Surgical Oncologist, Department of Surgery, Director, Melanoma/Soft Tissues Program, Montefiore-Einstein, and chair of Montefiore's CoC Cancer Committee. She noted, “Over two-thirds of patients in clinical trials are under-represented minorities. Montefiore-Einstein continually strives to provide access to care for all.”
Montefiore’s commitment to providing equitable healthcare to LGBTQ patients and a safe, inclusive workplace environment for associates has been recognized by our designation as a Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality in the Human Right’s Campaign’s Health Equality Index 2022.
We achieved leader status for the eigth year in a row, and received a perfect score in this year’s survey.

The organization looks at the safety of patients, effectiveness of the treatment provided, and the environment of care. The Joint Commission is an independent, nonprofit organization, and is the nation’s predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in healthcare.

A meal in one of our cafeterias isn't your standard, stereotypical hospital fare. It's why we're proud that our Wakefield, Moses and Weiler Campuses earned a “Gold Star” recognition (the highest award possible) for our participation in the Healthy Hospital Food Initiative.
As part of the initiative—run by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene—we revamped and took a healthier approach to the food and beverages served in our cafeteria, vending machines and patient meals.

For the third year in a row, Montefiore's renowned Cardiac Surgery Program at the Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart and Vascular Care was awarded the highest three-star rating by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons , a nonprofit organization representing more than 6,000 surgeons, researchers and healthcare professionals worldwide. Montefiore was one of only two programs in New York City to receive the three-star rating from the STS, putting it in the top tier of heart surgery centers in the United States.
The STS rating was highlighted in a Consumer Reports cover story titled "The Business of Healing Hearts."
In 2013, Becker's Hospital Review, a leading print and online source of hospital and healthcare industry news, included Montefiore on its nationwide list of 100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Oncology Programs. The hospitals named are on the cutting edge of cancer treatment, prevention and research, Becker's editorial team explained, with their selection based on clinical accolades, quality of care, demonstrated patient-centered care and contributions to the field of oncology.
The Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care was specifically recognized for its research partnership with Albert Einstein College of Medicine as well as for multidisciplinary and team-based care delivery, centered on patients and use of nurse navigators to coordinate and guide each step of the care process.
The Stern Stroke Center at Montefiore is a comprehensive stroke center designated by the New York State Department of Health. The Center treats more than 1,200 acute stroke patients per year, making it the second most visited stroke center in New York State. Meeting the State’s strict criteria demonstrates the strength of Montefiore’s highly skilled multi-disciplinary team, as well as our commitment to the quality care of our stroke patients.
