Rebecca A. Levine, MD, is a board-certified surgeon specializing in the treatment of benign and malignant colorectal disease, including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, motility disorders and anorectal pathology.
Trained in both basic and clinical research, Dr. Levine brings to Montefiore an understanding of how translational research can advance the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer, the third most common cause of cancer in the United State
Before earning her medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Dr. Levine pursued two research fellowships, first at the National Institutes of Health’s Department of Mammalian Genetics and Development, and then at Mount Sinai. After finishing medical school, Dr. Levine completed a residency in general surgery at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System. She then pursued a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan,where she was trained in advanced laparoscopy, complex anorectal diagnostics and procedures, and operative pelvic surgery for both benign and malignant conditions.
