Admission & Application
To apply to the program, we review only applications submitted through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). We begin the review process in September, and generally continue to download applications from the ERAS Post Office until November 1 or until all the available appointments for interviews have been taken. Interviews are normally held between October and January. We receive a large number of applications, and it is not possible to interview more than approximately 10% of the candidates who apply. Please do not send unsolicited CVs or letters of interest. We will review all applications carefully and inform you if you have been chosen. There is no need to call to check on your status or remind us of your interest.
We will consider all qualified candidates, including U.S. graduates and International Medical Graduates. Generally, we seek candidates who have USMLE scores in the mid-230s or above on both parts. Although occasional exceptions can be made, it is unusual for us to interview any candidate who does not have USMLE scores in the mid-230s or above. We offer H1-B and J-1 visas. For all IMGs, ECFMG certification is necessary prior to the beginning of the residency. This includes Steps 1 and 2 (Clinical Knowledge and Clinical Skills) of the USMLE exam. To be considered for an H1-B, Step 3 must also be successfully completed prior to the NRMP Match.
We prefer candidates who have graduated from medical school within the past eight years. However, we do consider some candidates who have had continuous clinical experience or contact since graduation. Those who have not had recent clinical contact should ideally undergo a period of observership or externship in a U.S. hospital prior to beginning a residency. Familiarity with the U.S. healthcare system is an obvious asset. Candidates who have completed multiple observerships or externships are viewed more favorably.
