Why Choose Montefiore's Physician Assistant Program?
Montefiore Medical Center is a full-service, integrated healthcare delivery system offering state-of-the-art medicine with oldfashioned personal attention. We combine new advances in diagnosis and treatment with empathetic care from some of the nation’s leading experts.
The Montefiore health system serves the 1.3 million residents of the Bronx, neighbors in nearby Westchester County and persons referred from across the nation and around the world. Nearly 2 million outpatients are seen annually in the medical center’s emergency rooms, hospital-based outpatient departments and at a 21-site medical group practice offering primary and specialty care in the Bronx and Westchester County.
At the center of the Montefiore system are three hospitals: the 706-bed Henry and Lucy Moses Division; the 356-bed Jack D. Weiler Hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine; and The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM). Today, Montefiore's hospitals provide inpatient care to more than 52,500 adults and children each year.
Montefiore’s Advanced Clinical Information Systems
Over the past decade, Montefiore has invested more than $125 million in information systems, making us a national leader in developing innovative applications of technology to medicine. We are one only a few hospitals in the country to be 100-percent computerized for ordering prescription drugs and tests, and for reporting the results. We have more than one million patient charts in our electronic system.
Academics at Montefiore
Montefiore has been the University Hospital for The Albert Einstein College of Medicine and its primary teaching affiliate since 1963. This collaboration between two of the nation’s preeminent medical institutions fosters the growth of knowledge by attracting leaders in the world of medicine and by promoting opportunities for basic and clinical research that looks into the complexities of disease and illness.
Each year, approximately 800 medical students and 1,100 resident physicians and fellows receive clinical training in primary care as well as a full range of specialties in one of the largest residency training programs in the United States.
