Community HealthOur integrated system of community-based care ensures that local residents have easy access to high-quality, vital healthcare services. In addition to our hospitals, we provide the Bronx and Westchester County with primary and specialty care at more than 100 ambulatory offices, including our 22 Montefiore Medical Group locations. Montefiore is an active corporate citizen, educating and engaging residents about health issues and healthier lifestyles. We are committed to ensuring healthcare is available to every individual and family by continuously expanding our reach through programs such as our school-based health centers, mobile vans, home visiting doctors and our extensive outreach efforts. In addition, we plan and sponsor a variety of screenings, health fairs and educational events throughout the year and offer patients access to a wealth of information through our extensive health library. |

Community DevelopmentAs the largest employer in the Bronx, Montefiore contributes significantly to the economic stability of the area. In fact, thousands of our own associates live and work in the Bronx, compelling us to take part in ensuring the development of the community. We have promoted the safety and vitality of local neighborhoods for nearly 30 years through the establishment of the Mosholu Preservation Corporation (MPC). Prior to its establishment, widespread housing abandonment and deterioration had resulted due to aging residents’ inability to afford the rising maintenance costs. Today, well-kept streets, attractive buildings and busy shops are the result of this dedicated and successful effort. An award-winning newspaper, the Norwood News was established by MPC as an honest, reliable outlet for neighborhood communications and community action. The Jerome-Gun Hill Business Improvement District is managed by the MPC and provides support to over 200 local businesses, promoting tourism, safety and economic stability. |

The Office of Community Relations oversees the Dennis Gardner Community Relations team – a group of associates from throughout our large organization committed to a common mission of providing essential health services and education to our community.
