Reza Ghavamian, MD 

Dr. Reza Ghavamian is the Director of the Division of Urologic Oncology, Robotic Urological Surgery and Prostate Cancer Center at Montefiore Medical Center, Professor of Clinical Urology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Director of Genitourinary Multidisciplinary Clinic at Montefiore Medical Center, the University Hospital of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Having completed his residency at University of Massachusetts Medical Center and Urologic Oncology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, he joined Montefiore Medical Center in 1998 and is now the only board-certified urologist in the New York Metropolitan area who conducts and has vast experience in every modality of surgery (open, laparoscopic, and robotic) for all urologic malignancies. In 2001, he established the first laparoscopic radical prostatectomy program in New York at Montefiore Medical Center, where he also launched the robotic program in 2005. Dr Ghavamian has been listed in Castle Connolly's Top Doctors in America since 2006 and was featured in New York Magazine's Top Doctors in 2008.  He also has been in the Best Doctors list since 2007 and has appeared in the Guide to America's Top Physicians and Best Doctors in America.  Additionally, he was honored with the Outstanding Teacher of the year Award at Montefiore Medical Center by the urology residents on four separate occasions. Dr. Ghavamian serves as a member of the Urology Executive Committee and the Valentine Selection Committee for the New York Academy of Medicine.  He was the chairman of both committees from 2005 to 2007.  He is an active member of the American Urological Association (AUA) and the New York Section of the AUA.  In 2006 he was selected by his peers in the New York section of the American Urological Association to be the New York Section's representative to the AUA Leadership class, and now serves on the AUA's Education Council.  He has authored numerous scientific articles and book chapters and is a reviewer for a multitude of urologic and scientific journals. He is also a member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the New York Urological Society.


David Hoenig, MD 

Dr. David Hoenig is the Director of Endourology, Residency Program Director, and Co-Director of the Laparoscopy/Endourology Fellowship Program at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Upon graduating from medical school at the University of Rochester, he completed his residency at Brown University's Department of Surgery and Department of Urology, and then earned his fellowship from Washington University's Department of Urology. A member of the American Urological Association and Endourological Society, Dr. Hoenig is the recipient of various research grants, including one for CryoLife bioadhesive technologies in partial nephrectomy and solid organ laceration, as well as one for stent flow testing. In addition to contributing to numerous publications, he has delivered presentations on a wide variety of topics, such as laparoscopic pelvic lymphadenectomy and external beam radiotherapy, urinary stone disease, laparoscopic treatment of renal cell cancer, ureterorenoscopy for medullary sponge kidney, and laparoscopic renal surgery.  Some of his current research studies explore: cryosurgical ablation of renal cancer, outpatient combined URS and ESWL for the treatment of large renal stones, laparoscopic partial nephrectomy, metabolic abnormalities in patients with medullary sponge kidney, side-by-side double stenting to manage malignant obstruction, and endoscopic management of ureterovaginal fistula.
